GOODWIN & MARK LLP
Goodwin & Mark LLP’s roots date back to 1953, when our founder, John (Jack) Goodwin, was called to the BC Bar. He then began practicing law as a partner of the firm McQuarrie, Selkirk & Goodwin until 1962 when he struck out on his own as a sole practitioner. In 1970, Jack expanded his legal practice to include Don Mark. They formed a partnership and together established the firm name of Goodwin & Mark. Alex Sweezey joined the firm four years later and became the senior partner after Jack and Don’s respective retirements and remained with the firm till his retirement in 2022.
Throughout his 52-year legal career, Jack was always a student of the law. He read voraciously and practiced in an impressive range of civil and criminal areas. His opinions were sought after and highly respected by the legal community. Many partners, associates, and articled students have had the benefit of Goodwin & Mark LLP’s professionalism and mentorship over the decades.
The firm offers representation to both individuals and businesses throughout the Lower Mainland in a wide range of legal practice areas, including corporate and business services, civil litigation, family law, adoptions, real estate and wills and estates.
Our Mission
Our mission remains the same today as it was when Jack began practice in 1953: to perform legal services of the highest calibre while remaining active in our community. We look forward to working with you.
Your safety is of paramount importance to us. We have made modifications to our space to help you maintain physical distancing while enjoying the experience you know and trust. Surfaces throughout the office are regularly sanitized. Meeting rooms are sanitized between appointments and contain physical plexiglass barriers. Hand sanitizer has also been made widely available.
We ask you to reschedule if you have: fever, cough, shortness of breath, sore throat, reduced sense of smell, potential contact with COVID-19 or someone experiencing the above symptoms, or travelled outside of Canada in the last 2 weeks. In many cases we could conduct appointments by teleconference as originally scheduled.
Anyone that requires the use of a pen will receive a new G&M pen on arrival to use for their appointment, which is to be taken with you when you leave.
We ask you be timely for your appointment, not too early, and not late, so that we can space out appointment appropriately and control client traffic.
We look forward to seeing you soon.
